Below is the email the Conservative Party of Canada sent to their supporters this week. Read it for yourself.
DEPORT the terror agents!
Hey Wayne,
Canada is at risk. Terrorists have been allowed into our country.
But they didn’t get smuggled in or sneak across the border. The Liberals opened the door for them.
The Liberals have let Tehran-linked Iranian terror agents into Canada.
They ignore them as they harass and threaten our people.
This wilful blindness from the Liberals puts EVERY Canadian at risk.
ONLY Common Sense Conservatives will SECURE our borders and protect Canadians from dangerous foreign terror threats.
Conservatives will keep dangerous TERROR actors OUT of our country. And we’ll DEPORT the ones that are already here. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. You can help—make a donation today to help Pierre win his crucial by-election and hold the Liberals to account to DEPORT dangerous criminals.
These terror agents must be deported. NOW.
While foreign threats target our communities, what are the Liberals doing? NOTHING.
This has to end. Every day the Liberals ignore these threats, more Canadian communities are at risk. More families worry about their safety. More foreign actors see Canada as an easy target.
Only Common Sense Conservatives will put CANADA FIRST and protect our people from foreign threats by DEPORTING dangerous terror agents and TIGHTENING our border. But we need your help to make sure Pierre Poilievre wins his by-election so he can CHALLENGE Mark Carney in the House of Commons HEAD ON. Please rush in a donation URGENTLY.
With your help, we will KICK the terror agents out of Canada and restore our safe communities.
Thank you for your generous support.
Sincerely,
CPC HQ
P.S. The Liberals let Iranian terror agents into our country. Help Pierre Poilievre return to the House so he can hold Carney to account and DEPORT the terrorists.
What a load of crap.
Let’s break this down for what it is:
A carefully tested, fear-driven fundraising pitch — laced with partial-truths, emotional manipulation, and a healthy dose of willful ignorance.
The Rhetoric
“Terrorists have been allowed into our country.” The opening line is designed to trigger primal fear: your family, your neighbourhood, your safety — all under threat.
“They didn’t sneak in. The Liberals opened the door.” This is an attempt to paint the government not just as incompetent, but as actively aiding terrorism. It’s a common populist trick: assign direct blame to your opponent for the worst possible thing.
“Tehran-linked Iranian terror agents” The Conservative Party wants you to believe that your streets are crawling with Iranian spies and assassins. The truth? Canada has sanctioned Iran’s IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) and intelligence community. Security agencies already monitor credible threats. Deportation already happens under Canadian law if evidence exists. But “we follow due process and enforce the law” doesn’t open wallets. “They’re everywhere!” does.
“Only Common Sense Conservatives will SECURE our borders…” Notice the framing: ‘common sense’ is code for ‘you’re a fool if you don’t agree’. They position their base as the only rational people left — and everyone else as traitors or idiots.
“Donate urgently” The email does exactly what fear-driven propaganda is designed to do: create panic, then offer salvation — but only if you send money right now. There’s no mention of how your money will be used or how the last 42 million Pierre raised was used. Where did it go? Did he spend it all on his 20 month election campaign?
The Lies and Misinformation
Let’s test the central claim: Are there actual “Tehran-linked terror agents” freely roaming Canada because the Liberals ‘invited’ them in?
Here’s what we know:
No credible evidence supports a mass infiltration by Iranian terror agents. Canada does have documented cases of Iranian government harassment of diaspora communities — but CSIS, the RCMP, and CBSA all have the legal powers to investigate and deport anyone credibly linked to terrorism or foreign interference. They do not need your money to do it, and donations to Pierre Poilievre will not be used to do it. They also don’t need the “permission” of the liberal party to do it. It’s in their mandate.
Poilievre and the CPC do not offer any proof in this email. There isn’t a cited case. No public report. No conviction. Just the boogeyman. IRGC existed under Harper as well, and discussions around IRGC go back into the early 2000s.
Can this claim be spun into something factual? Barely — at best, the government’s critics say Canada should have declared the IRGC a terrorist entity sooner. But a review of the Hansard will not expose years or months of cajoling by the CPC and Liberal resistance. Harper didn’t do it.
Deportation requires due process. Fear-mongering about “kicking them out now” ignores the Charter of Rights and the courts. Even Conservative MPs know that.
The Ignorance of the CPC
The real threat is that this message encourages Canadians to see entire communities — in this case, Persians/Iranians — as a suspicious monolith. It primes people to accept illegal, extrajudicial deportations, or worse, to turn on innocent neighbours.
It’s not “common sense.”
It’s grandstanding, fear mongering, rabble rousing, populism, bigotry, but it’s not “common sense.” If it wasn’t “Iranians with ties to Tehran”, it would be another spooky immigrant minority, perhaps they’d accuse of eating our pets. It’s the same brand of disgusting populism and nationalism we’re seeing to our south.
What This Really Is
This isn’t about national security. It’s about raising money. Keeping the base angry, afraid, and writing cheques.
You’ll notice that they steer clear of WHY Poilievre needs more money and more support. They don’t mention that his own constituents finally had enough of him, and now he’s had to run off to Alberta to impose himself on the good people of Battle River - Crowfoot, so that he can keep raising millions and living off the public teat while he shouts abuse and insults, rather than joining forces to build the One Canadian Economy.
If the Conservative Party really wanted to stop foreign interference, they’d support bipartisan legislation, stronger intelligence budgets, and diplomatic sanctions. But that doesn’t fit on a bumper sticker. Or in a fundraising email. They just want to take a contrary position to every proposition and get lifetime pensions for doing so. Take it all, give nothing back.
When you get messages like this, read them carefully.
Look for the fear mongering. The marginalized scapegoat. The unsubstantiated accusations. The lies dressed up as common sense.
Then ask yourself: Who really benefits?
It’s not you. It’s not Canada.
It’s the people cashing your donation. It’s Pierre occupying Stornoway and spending taxpayers money with no right to do so.
How about supplying emails or phone numbers to con party members or the headquarters so regular-thinking Canadians can contact them and politely ask them (?) WTF they are trying to prove with this crap. Maybe tell them to peddle it down south. Maybe try to head this stupid misinformation off before it has a chance to gain traction. Maybe just try to hold the cons to account for the stupid shit we know they're going to spout over the next 3 1/2 years. Something so they know we're not all gullible con voters.
Hmmm. Any reason we can see here why Poilievre does not want to get a security check?
